Crazy Urbanus characters from Tollembeek on the big screen next year
This week, the voices will be recorded for ‘Cash For Trash’, a crazy animated film for young and old, set in the out-of-control Urbanus universe of Tollembeek.
In ‘Cash For Trash’, the adults of Tollembeek strike a lucrative deal with a shadowy Russian (banker Jef Patat, disguised as Igor The Russian): Igor is allowed to dump hazardous waste in Tollembeek for a year and the inhabitants will be paid handsomely for it. Urbanus sees this as an opportunity to buy a huge engagement ring in order to marry Juf Pussy. Of course, everything goes wrong and the children rebel against the plan of the adults.
Along with the Gallic village of Asterix, Tollembeek is the most famous village in our comic book history. Next year, the Tollembeekers, together with their creators Willy Linthout and Urbanus, celebrate their 35th anniversary. Since the publication of the first album ‘Het Fritkotmysterie’ at the end of 1983, Willy Linthout and Urbain Servranckx have drawn and invented more than 175 absurd stories with the crazy characters from Tollembeek. Several generations of fans grew up with the mischievous strips, which sold almost 10 million copies. The scenario of The Garbage Hero is an original story, written by Urbain Servranckx and Jimmy Simons.
Cast
Like the comics, the film is a mix of mischievous humor and bad boy antics that appeals to young and old alike. Voice director Vincent Bal brought together a fine cast: Urbain Servranckx (Urbanus), Ben Segers (the dog Nabuko Donosor), Sven De Ridder (humbug Amedee), Frances Lefebure (Juf Pussy), Sien Eggers (mother Eufrazie), Ron Cornet (father Cesar), Ludo Hellinx (Jef Patat), Pieter Embrechts & Dimitri Leue (district agents René & Modest), Koen Van Impe (Mister Pastor), Tom Van Dyck (Doctor Scarecrow), Tuur Verelst, Thijs Antonneau and Wout Verstappen (schoolfriends Fat Herman, Botswana & Pinnekeshaar), Mark Verstraete (Meester Kweepeer) and Anke Helsen (Madam Pif).
The direction is in the hands of Erik Verkerk and Joost Van den Bosch, Vincent Bal does the voice direction, the scenario is written by Urbain Servranckx and Jimmy Simons, and the music is composed by Steve Willaert. The animation is done at Studio Ka-Ching Cartoons in the Netherlands and Studio Bal Gehakt and Fabrique Fantastique in Belgium. The voice recordings are done at Option Media.
The film will be distributed in theaters by Kinepolis Film Distribution (KFD) on February 27, 2019 and will be released in Belgium and the Netherlands.
