‘Floodland’ New thriller series

What secrets is the Floodland and its inhabitants hiding?

In ‘Floodland’, a deeply traumatized girl of African origin is found wandering around in the polders of the borderland between Belgium and Holland. Tara, a Rotterdam police detective, and Bert, an Antwerp psychiatrist, try to get the girl to speak. They soon get the feeling that the innocent looking borderland and the people who live there are hiding more secrets than the tourist brochures suggest…

‘Floodland’ is based on an idea by Erik de Bruyn and Rik D’hiet. The script was written by Rik D’hiet (‘Cops Ghent’, ‘The Divine Monster’, ‘De Ridder’). Erik de Bruyn (‘J. Kessels’, ‘Hope’, ‘Wilde Mossels’) will direct with Hendrik Moonen (‘Amigo’s’, ‘Unité 42’) co-directing.

Koen De Bouw (‘The Prime Minister’, ‘The Last Tycoon’) and actress Jasmine Sendar play the lead parts. Wim Willaert, Herwig Ilegems, Adanna Unigwe, Sebastien Dewaele, Fedja Van Huêt, Monic Hendrickx, Ingrid De Vos, Chris Nietvelt, Anne-Laure Vandeputte, Astrid van Eck and Evelien Van Hamme complete the international cast. Filming will start in early 2018.

Olivier Goris, net manager of Eén: “The very successful ‘High Tides’ marked a truly fine collaboration with The Netherlands. It’s great that we can join forces with our northern neighbours again on Floodland. This time the co-production flows quite naturally from the story itself..”

Mylene Verdurmen, head of drama at Avrotros: “Our inspiring collaboration with Rik and Erik began way back in 2013. This tense, mysterious thriller is slowly but surely taking shape. I am delighted that we are now going to bring to life our shared dream, together with the VRT and producers Column and Eyeworks.”
