Synopsis
The telenovella ‘David’ is a romantic, sometimes poignant, often comic story about separation and reunification. It’s a story about togetherness and the clash between nature and culture.
During a family boat trip in the Caribbean, twelve year old David falls overboard. After an immense search operation, his parents must accept their son has drowned somewhere in the ocean. However, David is washed ashore on one of the uninhabited islands and manages to survive, despite severe memory loss.
Fifteen years later, Sophie, a brilliant researcher in the pharmaceutical industry, discovers him by chance. She wants to help this helpless human being and decides to take the young man with her to her home town. David enters Western society as a blank slate. He doesn’t have a clue about our cultural conventions and our social rules. Therefore he questions our way of life with common sense.
He’s a true innocent, who doesn’t even understand the concept of lying, let alone harming anyone. Yet he will have to find his way in a world filled with intrigue, fierce battles and ruthless competition. David will be forced to choose between being the plaything or the player in a world he doesn’t grasp. While David’s naivety makes him an easy target, it allows him to hold a funny and unflinching mirror up to the people around him.
