Nic Balthazar\u2019s new feature film ‘Everybody Happy’ had its world premi\u00e8re at the Montreal World Film Festival (25 August-5 September). The Festival also hosted the international premiere of ‘Behind The Clouds’,\u00a0a debut feature by Cecilia Verheyden.<\/p>\n
Nic Balthazar is no stranger to Montreal, where his debut feature ‘Ben X’ won no less than three awards in 2007. His third feature, starring Peter Van den Begin, Barbara Sarafian and Josse De Pauw, is a modern parable about a successful stand-up comedian who is wrestling with his own worst enemy: his own negativity.<\/p>\n
‘Everybody Happy’ had its world premiere as part of Montreal\u2019s World Competition. The Belgian premiere followed on September 9 as the opening film of the Film Festival of Oostende, to be followed by a theatrical release on September 28 by KFD.<\/p>\n
Also screening in Montreal was ‘Behind The Clouds’, the debut feature by Cecilia Verheyden, which was invited for the First Films Competition. Based on a play by Micha\u00ebl De Cock about two former lovers who meet again after more than 50 years, the film was a box-office hit in Belgium earlier this year.<\/p>\n
